OUR HISTORY
The cabane à sucre Millette is the story of a family spanning five generations. In 1877, Odile Millette joined the first settlers in Saint-Faustin. He tapped some maple trees to collect the maple sap for the family needs. In 1922, Odilon took over and alike his father, continued the maple tradition. For your group, we will be happy to guide you for the choice of your reception hall.
In 1945, Odilon sold his land to Gérard who continued to work the maple grove with his wife Jacqueline. In 1957, they decided to build a sugar-house in which they would serve home-cooked meals, using recipes handed down through the generations. Today, our menu is still Quebec fare. In 1979, Gérard and Jacqueline passed the family business on to three of their six children. Since then, grandparents, children, and grandchildren work together to please those who love sugaring off time and maple products. They have kept the sugarhouse's family atmosphere and still produce maple syrup the old-fashioned way by collecting the maple sap in a horse-drawn barrel. They make sure to preserve their traditions, and feel they have a responsibility to uphold their heritage. As a result of hard work and determination, coupled with a deep desire to share with others their rich tradition and cultural heritage, Monique, Luc, and Benoit, have won a number of awards for the efforts including: Grand Prix of Quebec Tourism 1995 for best Small Enterprise of the year; Honorable Mention in 2002; "Business of the Year" and under category Tourist Attraction for the year 2002 by the Chamber of Commerce of Mt-Tremblant. Since 2001 La cabane à sucre Millette is listed in the Guide Michelin, Lonely Planet, Japanese guide and other tourist brochures. They have been recognized extensively through television and radio media from Radio-Canada, TV5, to the Gazette, and Journal de Montréal. Their loyal following include some prestigious clientele; members of Porsche, Toyota, Dior, Renault, Justice and Interior Ministers from the G-8 summit, to name a few. The Millette family is waiting to welcome you. If you are from Quebec or anywhere else in the world the Millette family and their staff are making a point of honour to warmly welcome you and make sure that your visit to the cabane à sucre will be filled with lots of wonderful memories. Don't forget, we are only 15 minutes from Mt-Tremblant. ![]() Site by SIPF |
